Question CHEEEEEESE - does anyone else seem to gain when you eat cheese in p3?

Im sure all of us LOVE and CRAVE cheese sometimes. Anyone out there done research on which cheeses are safe for p3 and life?

I try to stay away most of the time but I had some Feta about 4 days ago (1-2 oz) and I dont think it suited me well.

Parmesan seems to be dangerous too. but why is BLUE CHeese okay?

I have no idea, maybe it is just how the cheeses go through all the process to become the different kinds that they are. I too find that I am sensitive to some cheeses, especially cream cheese which makes my fingers look like little sausages, but then I can turn around and add a small amount of mozz to my scrambled eggs or on something else and I do totally find with it. Go figure.

In the first week for me cheese makes me gain slightly so I try not to eat it. But after that I can eat it without a gain. But blue cheese is fine any time for me. Since I am going into p3 next week I bought some blue cheese for the tomatoes and salads. I love blue cheese. :-)

Also, those faux breads from that blog your lighter side, I think, are fine for me and they are made with lots of cream cheese.

I would just wait a bit and then ease into eating cheese. The first week for me is hard regardless. It's not until the 2nd week that I see stability on the scale.

How far into p3 are you?

From what I have read, most people do better with white cheeses than yellow ones. I haven't added any cheese at all this p3, but last time I was fine with cream cheese, mozzarella, swiss, and colby jack. Love 'em.

What your body is sensitive to is a very individual thing. What's good for one might be poison for another. The only way to figure out what your body likes and doesn't like is to add ONE kind at a time and watch the scale for 3 days, as it can take 3 days for the sensitivity to manifest. It may be that after you have abstained from the culprit sensitivity that you've discovered for several months you may be able to add it back in, little by little.

Sensitivities to food of any kind are a real bummer. I have a list a mile long, and this protocol teaching me that my body DOES NOT LIKE some of my fav foods has been an emotional ... thing. As I am getting over it, and listening to my body, it makes P3 & P4 much more pleasurable. I know that if I indulge in a food I love and my body hates, I know to do a steak day and just be done with the gain it causes that way. I'm very thankful that steak days are part of protocol ... for life!

ME! ME!. Ugh! So frustrating. I have gone up every day since I started P3(D11) I am 2 pounds above my LDW today. It is a protein day for me, trying not to do a steak day. I am cutting ALL dairy out and see how I do and then go from there.

I can do sharp cheddar, swiss, and parmesan in moderation. I cannot do cream cheese, or any kind of american type processed cheese food.

I found this true for me, too. The culprit is the added whey in cream cheese and most processed cheese foods. I also can't drink skim milk, as it has more whey ... and some cottage cheese has too much whey. Usually the lower the fat, the higher the whey content. I was able to eat a (very expensive) organic cream cheese that listed no added whey on the label. Some sour cream I can eat ... but not all. Again, it's the whey in it, although if it is truly pasturized pure cream I do okay with it; some producers use whey cream in processing and they don't label it any differently than one who does not use "whey cream." So I do best to avoid it completely.

Cheeses can vary from person to person.

There are so many categories and each can have a different reaction.

    Soft cheeses versus hard cheeses
    Yellow versus white
    aged well and slightly aged

I don't do well with ricotta, but I'm okay with feta, blue, moz, and the like. I don't even think I've tried cream cheese.

Luckily I've had no issues with yellow cheeses either.

Exactly, Beth. Like I say, one person's edible is another person's poison. Only thing to do is to try one at a time and watch the scale (as well as other possible body indications - aches, pains, sinus flare-ups, etc.) for at least 3 days before trying a different one.
